Hi Tommy,

I came this close to clearing the board this week, just missing one answer: BETROTHED. I am mad at myself, because I was sure it was an anagram, and it just didn't come to me. I'll get you next time, I just know it!

Clues of note:

ABSCESS: very tight and well disguised.
TOOTLE: loved the "reflective" use of TO-OT.
NATTER: Novel use of dry to signal TT. New to me, and I'll probably steal it!
HERALDIC: I always like to see that Irish reference :o)
BASALT: A scientific clue, the hallmark of a puzzle by Athos!
SPEAR: "Don't shake the bard" was a brilliant bit of cluing, and my favorite of the day.
