Hi Tommy,

Another good one! I finished in about 15 minutes, not quite enough time to get through a whole mug of Barry's finest, but close. I'd call this one "upmarket and sophisticated", as there were lots of nice. classic references.

My notes along the way:

ETH-NIC: It always takes me a while to spot the cryptic use of little words like "the" ... very nice.
ASTER-O-ID: Classic clue structure, also nice.
S(ET)ANTA: great to see an Irish mythological reference instead of all that Roman and Greek stuff!
AI-LING: another classically formed clue.
C-LEAR-CUT: I got the answer, without understanding the "Sea King" reference, so had an "aha" looking at the explanation.
B(ALL)ET: Clue of the Day. I loved the use of "lose" to signal that ALL was engulfed by BET. Excellent!
MEL-CHIOR: classy answer, and so wise :)
SAUL: Runner up to Clue of the Day, with the classical answer combined with our own Daniel Day!
LAIR: I didn't quite get the connection between lair/fowl/den.
STY-LIST: Clever! sorts tresses = sort stresses :)
TSETSE: Also clever ... took me a while, this one.
OMELET: We Yanks are such sad spellers!

Great stuff, Tommy. I hope you find time to create another one. I do enjoy your crosswords. They're very Crosaire-like, but without the frustration!
